SECTOR · RESTAURANTS
Many tipping platforms handle tips. They duck the harder question — your service charge, the actual main source of pooled revenue. We don't. Tip4 takes the service payment for the venue and the tip for the worker in one card transaction, with full distinction maintained for the tronc. Terminals can differentiate tips from service charge, allowing you to take tips + service charge, split how these are handled, and all the compliancy handled as standard.
Tips the way they were meant to be.

Real savings — Save NIC and on your card processing
NIC savings of 15% for your business and 8% for your staff. Combine this with our brokerage and card processing solutions and we can drive down your costs. Not all solutions require you to switch, unlike many of our competitors.
Service charge AND tip in one transaction
Most providers do tips. Few handle the optional service charge cleanly. We can report on both and can split how they are handled. Service charge to the venue's tronc, tip to the named worker (if applicable). One card transaction, two destinations, full audit trail.
EPOS-driven, terminal-driven, or both
We can take reports from your EPOS provider (we are working on delivering integrations also) or operate from a standalone terminal. We don't always need you to rip-and-replace systems, or can clean up the operation and save you money also.
Tronc that holds up to scrutiny and compliancy
Independent troncmaster of record, EATA-compliant, HMRC E24-aligned. The audit pack is built as you go, not bolted on at year-end when HMRC come asking. The new rules of ERA 2025 increase your obligations, much more than many businesses can realistically handle cleanly.
RoundUp
Customer is led to RoundUp which is a slightly higher tip than you would normally expect. It's simple, basic psychology, that works! Lift your tip pool by up to 30%.
Workers' consultation tools
Ahead of the Employment Rights Act 2025 (ERA), we have the consultation, anonymous feedback, and policy generation built. Can your provider support this? October 2026 is closer than it sounds, and the process more fiddly than you may be able to cope with.
Multi-site sanity
Run one tronc per venue (the law requires it) with one consolidated reporting dashboard for the group. Site managers stay in their lane; head office gets one view.
Split billing and calculator
Our own terminals allow for easier bill splitting and even a calculator, adding service charge as standard, service charge + tips, or just tips. We adapt to you, not force you into a pigeon hole.
Restaurant maths, with realistic numbers.
Properly run troncs save 15% employer NIC and 8% employee NIC on tip volume. The calculator below uses your monthly tip pool to show the annual saving for both sides.
NIC savings + RoundUp uplift
Based on UK NIC rates from April 2025: 15% employer, 8% employee. RoundUp uplift assumes a realistic 15% lift on tip volume.
*RoundUp may increase the tip pool by as much as 30%; we use a fairer 15% for this assessment. Indicative figures only — RoundUp may over or underperform depending on your venue. Platform and processing costs still apply.
From single-site bistros to multi-site groups, we cater for all — intentionally.
Independents
Our tiered pricing means the maths actually works for you. Many of our competitors only want to help large venues and corporates. We know SMEs are the backbone of the UK, and feel they should benefit most.
Multi-site groups
Multi-site dashboards, per-venue troncs, group-level reporting. Built for the awkward middle stage where resources are tight, and you need all the help you can get to scale.
National brands
Enterprise SLAs, dedicated implementation, ongoing integrations with your existing PAYE, payments and EPOS partners.
EATA, ERA, and HMRC E24 — all in one place.
Navigating the rules and regulations is tough, and getting harder with the new ERA 2025. The Employment (Allocation of Tips) Act 2023 (EATA) and the Employment Rights Act 2025 (ERA) apply across every department; HMRC E24 governs the tronc treatment for tax. We handle all three on a single audit trail, making you compliant, and save on NIC.
EATA tronc compliance
Independent troncmaster of record, fairness rules across every department, full record retention.
ERA consultation tools
Anonymous worker consultation across departments, ahead of October 2026.
HMRC E24 alignment
NIC-exempt tronc payments, properly structured for HMRC review – save 15% and your staff 8%.
*RoundUp results will vary due to a number of factors, your customer base, your venue, and how you manage this. Tip4 does not guarantee the results of this but provides the systems and solutions for this to be possible
