PRODUCT · TIP SURCHARGING

The raise that doesn't cost you a thing.

Tip surcharging means the customer covers the small processing cost on top of the tip. The full tip reaches your team. Your business pays nothing for the platform. It's the cleanest way to give your staff a pay rise that lands at zero net cost — and yes, customers are completely fine with it.

"The best value pay rise you'll ever give."

HOW IT WORKS

Three numbers. One simple choice.

When a customer leaves a £10 tip, three things can happen. We support all three — but we make the surcharge model work properly.

Absorbed by the venue

Customer leaves £10. Worker receives £10. Venue pays the costs for Tip4 software. The traditional approach — clean for the customer, paid for by your business.

Surcharged to the customer

Customer leaves £10 + a small fee (e.g. 30p). Worker receives £10. Venue pays nothing. This is what we mean by the raise that doesn't cost you a thing.

Mix and match

Some venues have variable options on tips based on the size of the order. Smaller tips on small orders, larger surcharges on larger ones. Whatever fits your customer base.

TONY'S NOTE ON CUSTOMERS

"Won't customers complain about the fee?" The honest answer, is they may do.  Many don't notice. The ones who do see a transparent line ("processing fee") and accept it the same way they accept it on every food delivery app, event booking fee, or charity donation page. The trick is being clear about it, on which we are 100% transparent.  If this how you feel your venue needs to finance the solution, we are though here to help.

DESIGNED PROPERLY

Customers see exactly what they're paying.

Tip surcharging only works if it's transparent. The customer sees the fee broken out, on a separate line. No surprises, no buried small print.

  • Surcharge shown as a separate line item, never hidden in the tip

  • Customer can opt out of the surcharge if they prefer

  • Receipt shows the exact split: tip amount → worker, fee → processing

  • Compliant with consumer-protection rules and EATA transparency duties

Terms and conditions apply. Minimum tip volumes required, maximum number of recipients in the tip/tronc, minimum surcharge amounts to be collected each month – over monthly management fees to be applied.

"Surcharge at the terminal — clear, transparent, customer-controlled"

More for your team. Nothing from you.
