We grow what comes in. And save on what goes out.
Most tipping platforms handle the tips you already get. Tronc platforms and accountants make you NIC exempt. We do both — and one thing nobody else is doing, we actually grow the tip volume. The maths is the maths.
"The best value pay rise you'll ever give."
What comes in
up to +30%*
Grow the average tip
A bill for £47.20 used to round up to £50 in cash. We lean into rounding slightly higher than a set barrier (say 10%), to the nearest £5 increment. So that £47.20 becomes £55, taking the tip from £2.80, to £7.80! — clean prompt, one tap, no friction. More tips, happier team and healthier business overall.
"Round up. Give more."

what goes out
23%
Save on NIC costs
Tips paid through a properly-structured tronc are exempt from National Insurance — 15% employer, 8% employee. On £100k of tronc, that's £23k back in the room!
"More for your team. Nothing from you."
Plug your numbers in. See the impact in black and white.
The 23% is the headline. The exact number depends on your tip volume and your team — no email gate, no demo wall. For a venue with £100k of tronc distributions, the NIC saving is around £23k overall. Add RoundUp's 15% uplift on tip volume on top of that.
NIC savings + RoundUp uplift
Based on UK NIC rates from April 2025: 15% employer, 8% employee. RoundUp uplift assumes a realistic 15% lift on tip volume.
*RoundUp may increase the tip pool by as much as 30%; we use a fairer 15% for this assessment. Indicative figures only — RoundUp may over or underperform depending on your venue. Platform and processing costs still apply.
HOW WE FIT
Works with your stack. Or replaces it. Your call.
We specifically built Tip4 from a payments business up, and with partnerships in mind. We're a specialist sitting on top of payments engineering — bring us your existing acquirer, your EPOS, your accountant, and HR/PAYE software. We'll slot in.
SAAS
Alongside your existing stack
You may already have an acquirer you're happy with, we may not need to replace them. We can sit alongside as the tipping, tronc, and compliance layer.
PAYMENTS
When the brokerage is the better deal
We're part Payment Guru — a payments broker with multi-acquirer relationships, and 16+ years understanding integrations and functionality.
BOTH
The things only an integrated stack can do
When we run both layers, more opens up: service charge and tip in one card transaction, RoundUp prompts native on the terminal, split settlement at source for lenders.
Real talk — for acquirers & ISOs
If you're reading this from the payments side: we're a partner, not a competitor. Refer your hospitality, salon, and transport merchants to us for tronc and tipping; we don't touch the processing relationship unless you ask us to. We add tronc-and-tipping revenue to your portfolio and stickiness to your merchants. Talk to us about a partner programme →

The Employment (Allocation of Tips) Act 2023 sets the legal rules for how tips, gratuities, and service charges must be allocated to workers — 100% must reach staff, fairly and on time.
HMRC's guidance on tips, gratuities, service charges and troncs defines how a tronc must be structured for payments to be exempt from National Insurance.
The Employment Rights Act 2025 commences 1 October 2026, adding worker consultation duties on top of the existing EATA allocation rules.

Plenty of operators feel they ought to know more about the technical side. Here's the short version. Each definition links to a fuller answer.
Tip
A voluntary payment from a customer to a worker, on top of the bill, as thanks for service. Legally it belongs to the worker.
Tronc
A separate pot that pools tips and service charges and shares them out under an independent arrangement. Run properly, payments out are exempt from National Insurance.
Service charge
A percentage (often 10–20%) added to the bill in hospitality. If this is mandatory, this cannot be treated under NIC exemption, and should also be taxable as income for the business. Under EATA 2023, the whole thing must go to workers, with no deductions.
Troncmaster
The independent person or organisation that operates the tronc. Has to be genuinely independent of the employer to preserve the NIC exemption.
FOR PARTNERS
We work with your existing relationships. Not against them. Formal partner programmes for the people who already support and advise hospitality, salon, and transport operators. Together we are stronger!
"Think you have a great deal, or want to know what we can do? Take the Pepsi challenge! Send us last month's statement — we'll have a look and tell you what we'd do."
We will provide an honest review of your card processing, tipping, and tronc setup. No commitment. We'll read your numbers, tell you what we'd change, and let you decide what to do with it.
